Full payroll glossary
- Salary
- Your pay for the days worked in the period. Most other items are based on it.
- Overtime
- The first 9 hours a week are paid double and the rest triple (arts. 67-68 LFT). Part is ISR-exempt.
- Sunday premium
- An extra 25% of your daily salary for working on Sunday (art. 71 LFT).
- Vacation premium
- At least 25% of your vacation-day pay (art. 80 LFT). Exempt up to 15 UMA a year.
- Christmas bonus
- At least 15 days of salary, before December 20. Exempt up to 30 UMA.
- Profit sharing
- Your share of 10% of company profits. Exempt up to 15 UMA.
- Grocery vouchers
- A social-welfare benefit. ISR-exempt up to a limit and IMSS-exempt up to 40% of the UMA.
- Savings fund
- Shows up twice: as income (the employer's part) and as a deduction (yours). You get it all back, usually once a year.
- Bonuses
- Extra pay for punctuality, attendance or results. Punctuality and attendance ones are IMSS-exempt up to 10% of salary.
- Employment subsidy
- A government credit that lowers ISR on low incomes (up to ~$11,492 a month in 2026). It's not employer money: it's subtracted from your tax.
- Income tax (ISR)
- Income tax withheld by your employer and paid to SAT, using the art. 96 LISR tariff on taxable income.
- IMSS contributions
- Your share of social security: healthcare, sick pay, disability and your retirement account. Usually 2.5–3% of salary; the employer pays much more.
- Infonavit mortgage
- Deduction to repay your housing loan. Only appears if you have one. The employer's 5% contribution is not deducted from you.
- Fonacot loan
- Repayment of a Fonacot consumer loan you took out, deducted via payroll.
- Child support
- A court-ordered deduction for child support. The employer must apply it.
- Loan or advance
- Money advanced by the employer, recovered in installments. By law it can't exceed 30% of the amount above minimum wage (art. 110 LFT).
- Absences or lateness
- Deduction for days not worked. It also reduces the days counted for IMSS.
- SBC (contribution base salary)
- Your daily salary integrated with bonus, vacation premium and other benefits. IMSS contributions and your future pension are based on it.
- SDI (integrated daily salary)
- Daily salary plus prorated benefits. Used for severance and IMSS.
- Social security number
- Your IMSS number (11 digits). You need it for your contribution statement and your Afore.
- Tax ID (RFC)
- Your SAT taxpayer ID. Make sure it's correct so withheld ISR shows up in your annual return.
- CURP
- Your national population ID. It must match RENAPO's record.
- Tax receipt ID (UUID / CFDI)
- Proof the payslip is registered with SAT. You can verify it on SAT's CFDI verification site.
- Total earnings
- Everything you earned in the period before deductions.
- Total deductions
- Sum of everything deducted: taxes, contributions and loans.
- Net pay
- What actually reaches your account: earnings minus deductions.
- Taxable and exempt
- Each earning is split into a part that pays ISR (taxable) and a part that doesn't (exempt).
- Pay period and days paid
- Weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly or monthly. Days paid drive salary and contributions.
