Questions about Online Notepad

Where are my notes stored?

In your own browser's local storage (localStorage), not on our servers. That means no one else can see them, but they're also only available on that browser and device.

Can I lose my notes if I close the browser?

No, they stay saved when you reopen the browser on the same device. They are cleared if you use private/incognito mode, clear browsing data, or switch browsers. For important notes, use the export button as a backup.

Can I access my notes from another device or browser?

They don't sync on their own, because they never touch a server. To move them, use “Backup” to download a .json file, then “Import backup” in the other browser: notes are merged without deleting anything, and if one exists in both, the most recent version wins.

How many notes can I create?

There's no fixed note limit — only your browser's local storage capacity (typically several MB), enough for thousands of regular text notes.
