Free Online Reverse Voice Challenge
The reverse voice challenge (also known as the reverse audio challenge) is one of TikTok's funniest trends. One person secretly records a word, like “hello”, and the phone plays it backwards (“olleh”). The other person, without knowing the word, copies that strange sound as well as they can. Their imitation is then flipped back and, if they did it well, you hear the original word… or something hilarious. Now they have to guess what the word was! This tool does it all in your browser: it records, reverses the audio, flips the imitation, checks the answer and keeps score for 2 to 6 players taking turns. It also gives a clarity score from 0 to 100 and a bonus point for the clearest imitations. There's a solo mode too, to practice with suggested words or your own.
Why use Reverse Voice Challenge
- Friends mode: secret word, pass the phone and guess, with turns and a scoreboard for 2 to 6 players
- Records, reverses and flips the audio automatically; play the reversed clip slower if needed
- Clarity score from 0 to 100 and a bonus point for clear imitations
- Solo mode to practice with suggested words or your own
- Private and free: audio is processed only in your browser, no app or sign-up
How to use it in 3 steps
- 1
Record your secret word
The first player optionally types their secret word and records it said normally, without the other player seeing.
- 2
Pass the phone
The second player listens to the word backwards as many times as they like, even slowed down.
- 3
Copy the reversed audio
They record their imitation and the tool flips it so it hopefully sounds like the original word.
- 4
Guess and score
They type or say the word they heard. A correct guess wins 1 point, plus a bonus for a clear imitation. Then switch turns.
Questions about Reverse Voice Challenge
What is the TikTok reverse voice challenge?
It's a trend where someone records a secret word, it's played backwards and another person tries to imitate it. When the imitation is flipped back you hear (more or less) the original word, and you have to guess what it was. The results are usually hilarious.
How do you play with friends?
In “With friends” mode, the first player optionally types and then records a secret word without the other player seeing. Pass the phone: the second player listens to the reversed audio, copies it and hears their imitation flipped back. They type or say their guess and the word is revealed. Then you switch turns.
How are points scored?
Whoever guesses the word wins 1 point. If the secret word was typed in, the guess is checked automatically (ignoring accents, case and one typo); otherwise you decide together. If the imitation scores 60+ clarity, it earns 1 bonus point.
How is clarity calculated?
We compare the sound features (MFCC coefficients) of the original word with the flipped imitation, aligned in time. We also check it doesn't sound more like the backwards word, so just saying the word normally scores nothing.
Is my voice saved or uploaded?
No. Recording, reversing and scoring all happen in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and recordings are discarded when you move to the next round or close the page.
Why isn't the microphone working?
You need to accept the microphone permission when your browser asks. If you blocked it, re-enable it from the padlock in the address bar. It works in recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari.
