Questions about ️ Typing Course
What is a good typing speed?
Two-finger typists usually reach 20 to 30 words per minute. With touch typing, 40 wpm is a solid working speed and over 60 wpm is fast. Accuracy matters more: aim for over 95%.
How are words per minute calculated?
By convention, every five characters, spaces included, count as one word. Your correct characters are divided by five and by the minutes you typed.
Which finger presses each key?
Each finger owns a column: pinkies take the outer keys, ring fingers W-S-X and O-L-period, middle fingers E-D-C and I-K-comma, and index fingers the two central columns each. Thumbs press the space bar.
How long does it take to learn to touch type?
With 15 to 20 minutes a day, most people type without looking within two or three weeks. A little every day beats one long weekly session.
