Excel Practice
Learn Excel with 55 interactive exercises, an exam and a daily challenge, in English or Spanish: IF, VLOOKUP, FILTER, dates and more
Your first formula
Every formula starts with =. Instead of typing numbers, use references like B2: the letter is the column and the number is the row. When B2 changes, the result updates by itself. The operators are + - * / and ^ for powers.
=B2*C2In D2, calculate the row total: price times quantity. Your formula will be copied down to D6, so use references, not numbers.
| A | B | C | D | E | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Product | Price | Quantity | Total | |
| 2 | Notebook | 35 | 4 | ||
| 3 | Pen | 12 | 10 | ||
| 4 | Backpack | 450 | 1 | ||
| 5 | Calculator | 280 | 2 | ||
| 6 | Marker | 18 | 6 | ||
| 7 |
Tip: while typing, click a cell or drag across several to insert their reference.

Questions about Excel Practice
Why do some Excel formulas use ; instead of ,?
It depends on regional settings. Where the comma is the decimal mark, such as Spain or much of South America, Excel separates arguments with semicolons: =SUMA(A1;B1). English Excel and Mexican Spanish Excel use commas. This tool accepts both.
What are Excel functions called in Spanish?
Many are renamed: SUM is SUMA, AVERAGE is PROMEDIO, COUNT is CONTAR, COUNTA is CONTARA, IF is SI and VLOOKUP is BUSCARV. MIN and MAX keep their names. Each solved exercise shows your formula translated.
How does it check my formula?
It calculates your formula on the sheet and compares it with the expected result, then recalculates with different data, so a formula with typed-in numbers fails even if it matched once. Any correct approach works: =C2*B2 is as good as =B2*C2.
What is the daily challenge?
Every day a new sales table is generated with three questions, the same for everyone. Solving it adds a day to your streak; skip a day and the streak starts over. It is saved only in this browser.
Do I need Excel installed?
No. The sheet runs in your browser and evaluates formulas with its own Excel-like engine. Progress is saved only in this browser.
