Google Sheets Practice

Learn Google Sheets with 59 interactive exercises, an exam and a daily challenge: SUM, IFS, VLOOKUP, ARRAYFORMULA, FILTER, dates and more

Your first formula

In Google Sheets every formula starts with =. Instead of typing numbers, use references like B2: the letter is the column and the number is the row. When B2 changes, the result recalculates by itself. The operators are + - * / and ^ for powers.

Example=B2*C2

In D2, calculate the row total: price times quantity. Your formula will be copied down to D6, like dragging the small blue square in the corner, so use references, not numbers.

D2
ABCDE
1ProductPriceQuantityTotal
2Notebook354
3Pen1210
4Backpack4501
5Calculator2802
6Marker186

Tip: while typing, click a cell or drag across several to insert their reference.

Free Online Google Sheets Practice

Learn Google Sheets by solving exercises in a spreadsheet inside your browser. Each lesson explains one idea, asks for a formula and checks it instantly. Beyond the basics, you practice what sets Sheets apart: array formulas that fill many cells at once with ARRAYFORMULA, FILTER, UNIQUE, SORT and SPLIT.

Why use Google Sheets Practice

  • Sheets array formulas: ARRAYFORMULA, FILTER, UNIQUE, SORT and SPLIT
  • English or Spanish function names: SUM or SUMA, IFS or SI.CONJUNTO
  • Comma or semicolon argument separators
  • Explains mistakes: wrong result size, blocked spills or typed-in numbers
  • 59 lessons in 11 modules: from your first formula to SUMIFS, DATEDIF, NETWORKDAYS and FILTER
  • A timed 10-question exam and a daily challenge with a streak
  • Progress saved in your browser, no account

How to use it in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Pick your spreadsheet language

Choose English function names or Spanish ones with a comma or semicolon separator.

  2. 2

    Read the lesson and task

Each lesson explains a function with an example and tells you which cell to fill in. When the result fills several cells, a dotted outline shows how far it should reach.

  3. 3

    Type the formula

Start with = and type in the formula bar. Click or drag across cells to insert references and ranges, and watch the result as you type.

  4. 4

    Check and move on

Press Check or Enter. If something is off you will see what to fix; if it is right, move to the next lesson.

Questions about Google Sheets Practice

What is ARRAYFORMULA in Google Sheets?

It lets a single formula work on whole ranges and fill an entire column, for example =ARRAYFORMULA(B2:B6*C2:C6). You no longer copy the formula row by row, and new rows calculate by themselves.

Why do some Google Sheets formulas use ; instead of ,?

It depends on each spreadsheet's locale, under File > Settings. Where the comma is the decimal mark, such as Spain or much of South America, arguments are separated by semicolons: =SUMA(A1;B1). United States and Mexico locales use commas. This tool accepts both.

What are Google Sheets functions called in Spanish?

Classic functions are renamed as in Excel: SUM is SUMA, IF is SI, IFS is SI.CONJUNTO, VLOOKUP is BUSCARV and TEXTJOIN is UNIRCADENAS. Functions that started in Sheets keep their English names: ARRAYFORMULA, FILTER, UNIQUE, SORT, SPLIT, JOIN, REGEXMATCH and XLOOKUP.

Do I need a Google account?

No. The sheet runs in your browser and evaluates formulas with its own Sheets-like engine. Progress is saved only in this browser.
