Excel LET function
Names parts of a formula so calculations are not repeated and it reads clearly. It has the same name in Spanish Excel.
Syntax
English Excel
=LET(name1, name_value1, calculation_or_name2, …)
Spanish Excel (Mexico)
=LET(nombre1, valor_nombre1, cálculo_o_nombre2, …)
Spanish Excel (Spain, Latin America)
=LET(nombre1; valor_nombre1; cálculo_o_nombre2; …)
| Argument | What it is |
|---|---|
| name1 | A name for a value. |
| name_value1 | The value or calculation it holds. |
| calculation_or_name2 | More names and, last, the calculation using them. |
Example
LET(name, value, …, calculation) names parts of a formula, so you do not repeat the same calculation and the formula reads like a sentence. The last argument is the result.
=LET(VENTA,B2,IF(VENTA>50000,VENTA*0.05,VENTA*0.02))
Common mistake
Excel 365 and 2021 only. Names cannot look like cells: "A1" or "x1" will not work.
