Excel SUMIFS function
Adds only the rows that meet every condition. In Spanish Excel it is called SUMAR.SI.CONJUNTO.
Syntax
English Excel
=SUMIFS(sum_range, criteria_range1, criteria1, [criteria_range2, criteria2], …)
Spanish Excel (Mexico)
=SUMAR.SI.CONJUNTO(rango_suma, rango_criterios1, criterio1, [rango_criterios2, criterio2], …)
Spanish Excel (Spain, Latin America)
=SUMAR.SI.CONJUNTO(rango_suma; rango_criterios1; criterio1; [rango_criterios2; criterio2]; …)
| Argument | What it is |
|---|---|
| sum_range | The cells to add (it comes first). |
| criteria_range1 | The first range to check. |
| criteria1 | Its condition. |
| criteria_range2, criteria2optional | More pairs. |
Example
SUMIFS adds with several conditions. Unlike SUMIF, the sum range comes first: SUMIFS(sum_range, range1, criteria1, range2, criteria2…).
=SUMIFS(D2:D11,B2:B11,G2,C2:C11,G3)
Common mistake
Unlike SUMIF, the sum range comes first. For a period, use two conditions on the date column: ">="&start and "<="&end.

In G4, add up the amounts for the region in G2 and the product in G3. Use those cells as criteria rather than typing the text.

Frequently asked questions
- What is SUMIFS called in Spanish?
- In Spanish Excel it is SUMAR.SI.CONJUNTO. The formula =SUMIFS(D2:D11,B2:B11,G2,C2:C11,G3) is written =SUMAR.SI.CONJUNTO(D2:D11;B2:B11;G2;C2:C11;G3) (or with commas in Mexico).
- Why does SUMIFS use semicolons in some Excel versions?
- It depends on regional settings. Where the comma is the decimal mark (Spain, much of South America), Excel separates arguments with semicolons. English Excel and Mexican Spanish Excel use commas.
- What is the most common SUMIFS mistake?
- Unlike SUMIF, the sum range comes first. For a period, use two conditions on the date column: ">="&start and "<="&end.
