Excel COUNT function
Counts how many cells contain numbers (dates included). In Spanish Excel it is called CONTAR.
Syntax
English Excel
=COUNT(value1, [value2], …)
Spanish Excel (Mexico)
=CONTAR(valor1, [valor2], …)
Spanish Excel (Spain, Latin America)

| Argument | What it is |
|---|---|
| value1 | The first cell or range to count. |

Example
COUNT counts only cells that hold numbers. COUNTA counts every cell that is not blank, whether it holds numbers or text. Use them to know how many records you have.

Common mistake
COUNT ignores text. To count names or any non-blank cell use COUNTA.
