Google Sheets IFERROR function
Returns a formula’s result or, if it errors, the value you choose. In Spanish Sheets it is called SI.ERROR.
Syntax
English Sheets
=IFERROR(value, [value_if_error])
Spanish Sheets (Mexico locale)
=SI.ERROR(valor, [valor_si_error])
Spanish Sheets (Spain, Latin America)
=SI.ERROR(valor; [valor_si_error])
| Argument | What it is |
|---|---|
| value | The formula that might error. |
| value_if_erroroptional | What to show instead; blank by default. |
Example
If a formula errors, such as #DIV/0! when dividing by zero or by a blank cell, IFERROR(formula, value) shows the value you choose instead. Sheets writes errors the same way in every language.
=IFERROR(B2/C2,"No units")
Common mistake
It hides every error, including the ones that reveal a broken formula. Use it once you know which error to expect.

Frequently asked questions
- What is IFERROR called in Spanish?
- In Spanish Google Sheets it is SI.ERROR. The formula =IFERROR(B2/C2,"No units") is written =SI.ERROR(B2/C2;"Sin piezas") (or with commas under a Mexico locale).
- Why does IFERROR use semicolons in some spreadsheets?
- It depends on each spreadsheet's locale, under File > Settings. Where the comma is the decimal mark (Spain, much of South America), arguments are separated by semicolons. Mexico and United States locales use commas.
