Excel BYROW function

Calculates one result for each row of a range with a LAMBDA. It has the same name in Spanish Excel.

Syntax

English Excel

=BYROW(array, lambda)

Spanish Excel (Mexico)

=BYROW(matriz, lambda)

Spanish Excel (Spain, Latin America)

=BYROW(matriz; lambda)

ArgumentWhat it is
arrayThe range to go through row by row.
lambdaA LAMBDA that receives one row and returns a single value.

Example

BYROW(range, LAMBDA(row, calculation)) hands the LAMBDA one whole row at a time and returns one result per row. One formula then gives the total, maximum or average of every row.

=BYROW(B2:D6,LAMBDA(fila,SUM(fila)))

Common mistake

Excel 365 only. If the LAMBDA returns several values per row it gives #CALC!. For columns there is BYCOL.
