Excel LAMBDA function
Creates your own function with parameters, to reuse a calculation. It has the same name in Spanish Excel.
Syntax
English Excel
=LAMBDA(parameter1, calculation)
Spanish Excel (Mexico)
=LAMBDA(parámetro1, cálculo)
Spanish Excel (Spain, Latin America)
=LAMBDA(parámetro1; cálculo)
| Argument | What it is |
|---|---|
| parameter1 | A name for the value it receives, such as price. |
| calculation | The formula that uses the parameters; it always goes last. |
Example
LAMBDA(parameter, calculation) creates your own function. MAP(range, LAMBDA(…)) applies it to every cell and returns all the results together. With LET you can name it: LET(tax, LAMBDA(p, p*1.16), tax(B2)). Excel 365 only.
=MAP(B2:B6,LAMBDA(precio,precio*(1+E2)))
Common mistake
Excel 365 only. On its own in a cell it gives #CALC!: use it inside MAP or BYROW, store it in LET, or save it in the Name Manager.
